Saki-ami no Wa Exhibition Report
From July 23rd to 25th, 2021, I held my first solo exhibition at Gallery Hana in Shimokitazawa!
Thank you to everyone who came, everyone who participated online, and everyone who peeked in via social media!
Since it was my first solo exhibition, there was a lot of trial and error, but thanks to all of you, I had a very fulfilling and enjoyable time.
I transported a lot of items from my studio as if I were moving, and I wanted to create a space that felt like everyone was visiting my studio.
...However, I didn't have enough time to leisurely photograph the exhibition...
Unfortunately, I don't have many photos. My apologies...
Due to the current situation, reservations were required, which actually allowed me to talk with everyone for a long time, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Not only did I connect with those who came in person, but also with everyone online, where we enjoyed the exhibition together and made original "saki-ami" scrunchies.
I also demonstrated hair arrangements using the saki-ami scrunchies.
By meeting and talking with everyone in person, I was able to better understand your concerns! I'm glad everyone was satisfied!
I'll summarize your hair arrangements another time!
I brought in so many fabrics this time, so everyone had a hard time choosing colors...!
But I think you all found the colors you wanted and created unique color combinations!
It was a bit nerve-wracking to knit with everyone watching...!
But I was so happy to hear exclamations like, "So fast!" and "Wow!"
I got so carried away that I forgot to take pictures, and some colors didn't come out well due to the lighting, so this is just a small introduction...!
These are everyone's creations.
The "Vitamin Scrunchie" was cute, like a parakeet.
I made a scrunchie for "Melon Cream Soda" where the proposed fabric color was a perfect match, and a cute scrunchie online where vivid pink and orange married beautifully. I made these during the live stream.
Then came "Santorini" on the same day.
This one was faithfully and dreamily reproduced from a photo.
This is a chic version designed to match everyday clothes.
Even with the same theme, not a single color was used identically.
But both are Santorini. Wonderful!
And these original pink gradients too!
Even with vivid pink, it turned out elegantly. I had a request for a barrette that would allow Liberty fabric to flow, and I was wondering how to shape it. But through interactive communication during the live stream, we completed it perfectly!
It's too unique! So cute!
Many people also created nuanced colors, like "milk tea with extra milk" or "a color I don't have for work!"
Oh, you know, like, "I thought it would be nice to have a little more of this color here!"
Even a small change can make a big difference.
It's your very own original color balance.
I even tried making mini claw clips, which are candidates for new products.
I'll be refining these further for commercialization!
It's a solo exhibition, but I've only talked about making things! (laughs)

This time, I had such a wonderfully enjoyable time that it even surprised me, so I'm thinking I definitely need to do this again!
I want to create regular opportunities to meet everyone.
I have a slight concern that I might have enjoyed myself too much...
However, I'm overwhelmed with joy from receiving heartwarming comments like, "Having it made right in front of me made me feel even more attached to it!" and "It was wonderful to finally see the saki-ami scrunchies all together!"
